The Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) successfully conducted “Exercise TIGER”, a major security awareness and live evacuation drill designed to enhance crisis response capabilities for UN national staff and their eligible dependents.
The exercise, held at GHANBATT Headquarters (UNP 5-66) on Thursday 13 November 2025, was organized under the Military Support to UNIFIL Security Plan (MSUSP) and in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions 1701 and 2749. It forms part of UNIFIL’s annual training directive to ensure operational readiness and the safety of personnel in the mission area.
Key Objectives of the Exercise included validating evacuation and relocation plans for national staff and dependents, familiarizing participants with roles and responsibilities during emergencies and strengthening coordination among military units, UNIFIL Security, and civilian staff.
GHANBATT played a central role by establishing secure concentration points and providing shelter facilities, coordinating with UNIFIL Security for planning and execution, and ensuring effective communication with the Joint Operations Center (JOC) throughout the exercise.
