In a display of military cooperation, UNIFIL’s Sector West and the Ghanaian Battalion (Ghanbatt) conducted a two-day joint simulation exercise on Thursday 16 to Friday 17 October 2025.
The training, which formed part of a familiarization deployment with the Force Commander’s Reserve (FCR), was designed to enhance interoperability, reactivity, and operational skills between the units.
The event provided GHANBATT troops with crucial hands-on practice alongside the FCR. The exercises focused on key peacekeeping scenarios, including Crowd Riot Control and Denial of Freedom of Movement.
An additional Live Firing Exercise was conducted on Friday 17 October, to further reinforce the training.
The collaboration also included an equipment display and familiarization session, allowing both forces to better understand each other's capabilities and resources.
Following the rigorous drills, the mood shifted to one of camaraderie as the platoons engaged in friendly soccer and volleyball matches, ending the productive day on a cohesive and high-spirited note.
