UNMISS GHANBATT 12 Holds End-Of-Tour Thanksgiving Religious Parade

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 12 has held an End-of -Tour Thanksgiving Religious Parade at its Headquarters on Sunday, 21 September 2025, to mark the successful completion of its mission.

Preaching on the theme “We Owe God Our Gratitude”, the Battalion Clergy, Captain Michael Aniagyei and Lieutenant Asomah Moro, urged troops to thank God for His protection throughout the deployment and called for reconciliation among conflicting parties in South Sudan to promote peace.

The Head of Field Office, Mr Sam Korutaro Muhumure, commended the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Godfred Asampong, for his exemplary leadership and encouraged personnel to remain vigilant against potential security threats.

He also praised the Battalion’s Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives, which strengthened community relations and won the trust of the local population.

In his address, Lt Col Asampong expressed gratitude to God for guidance and favour during the tour and affirmed that the mission’s objectives of promoting peace and protecting civilians were achieved through professionalism, commitment and resilience.

He urged troops to uphold the discipline and selflessness demonstrated in the mission area when they return to their units in Ghana.
