US Ambassador to Ghana Meets Chief of the Army Staff

The US Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia Palmer has paid a visit to the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, on Friday 4 April 2025, at the Army Headquarters in Burma Camp.

 

The visit was to congratulate COAS on his appointment and discuss preparations towards the upcoming African Land Forces Summit (ALFS 25), scheduled for Monday 7 to Thursday 10 April 2025.

 

COAS in his remarks expressed gratitude for her visit and the consistent support from the US Government, both logistical and through training activities. He noted that all plans for ALFS 25 were on track. He further suggested some more training sessions to address internal security threats.

 

Ambassador Palmer in response praised the Ghana Armed Forces' professional services in the various peacekeeping missions and their collaboration with the Ghana Police Service in the recent peaceful election. She also assured of more collaboration and looked forward to having a planned training package to curb some internal security threats.
