7 Garrison Observes National Day of Prayer

The annual Security Services National Day of Prayer was observed by 7 Garrison units on Thursday 19 September 2024 at the St Ignatius Catholic Church in 66 Artillery Regiment, Volta Barracks, Ho.

The aim of the National Day of Prayer was to bring together personnel of the security services to pray for a peaceful election as well as pray for the leadership of the country. The theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer was ‘‘Pray for the well-being of Ghana and it shall be well with you’’.

In his opening remarks, the Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Lt Col Jalali Din Ibrahim, indicated that the gathering signified the collective commitment of the Security Services to ensuring peace, unity and stability in the country. He stated that with crucial months ahead, it is imperative that they prayed for wisdom for their leaders, peace for the communities and safety of all those entrusted with maintaining law and order. He concluded by welcoming all to the gathering to witness the unity of faith where both Christian and Muslim prayers were offered and hoped that it would serve as a beacon of hope and peace for the entire nation.

On his part, the Oti Regional Minister, Hon Daniel Machator who was the Guest of Honour, encouraged all gathered for the prayers to reflect on the significance of peace and stability since it is the foundation on which development is built.   He stressed that as they prayed for the safety of all security personnel and leaders that would emerge from the electoral process, they should also commit themselves to upholding the values of democracy and peaceful coexistence.

The 7 Garrison National Day of Prayer was well graced by the Commanders and personnel of Security Services in the Volta and Oti Regions.
