Artillery Training School Holds Closing Ceremony for Gunners Advance and Basic Artillery Course 1-2024

The Artillery Training School has held a closing ceremony for its advance and Basic Gunners Course 1-2024 on Thursday 26 September 2024 at the Artillery Training School, Akoefe near Ho in the Volta Region. The course covered 12 weeks of rigorous training for 56 all ranks.

 

The Commanding Officer of the Artillery Training School, Lt Col Patrick Atuiri, commended the students for their selfless determination to complete the course successfully. He congratulated all for availing themselves for this noble task.

 

In a closing remark delivered by the Commander Army Training Command, Brig Gen Stephen Woseadzikpo Kwaku Parbey, he stated that, he followed the progress of the students with keen interest since the commencement of the course and their splendid performance during their final field training exercise at Bundase had given him a firm assurance of competencies gained on both courses. He congratulated the students and accentuated the need to undergo the Artillery Basic course which provides the building blocks for the foundation, knowledge and skills to kick-start their career as gunners. He further reminded them that the Advance course also builds on the basis to provide the skills necessary for advanced and more demanding roles.

 

The Guest of Honour lauded the instructors for their hard work and dedication, and assured them of efforts being made by higher command to address the challenges faced by the school. He also acknowledged the Commanding Officer of 66 Artillery Regiment, Lt Col Jalali Din Ibrahim for his tremendous support for the smooth running of the course.

Awards were presented to students who excelled during the course.  In the Basic Artillery Course category, Gnr Osei Owusu Fodjour emerged First, Gnr Agyemang Eugenia emerged second and Gnr Ati Mercy got the third position. In the Gunners Advance Course category, Lt Sandra Addo placed first, followed by Lt Abdul Jabal Mumuni in second position and Gnr Abangah Prosper in third position.
