COAS Graces 37 Military Hospital’s 2025 WASSA Celebration

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has served as Guest of Honour at the 37 Military Hospital’s 2025 West Africa Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA), held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Quartermaster Yard. The event brought together serving and retired medical personnel in a celebration of service, sacrifice, and solidarity.In his address, the COAS conveyed warm greetings from the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Military High Command, highlighting the significance of the occasion under the theme “Resilient and Quality Service.” Major General Gbetanu reaffirmed the pivotal role of the 37 Military Hospital in national defence and public health, describing its staff as the backbone of military healthcare. He commended their unwavering commitment, resilience, and professionalism, noting the hospital’s critical contribution to maintaining the operational readiness of the Ghana Armed Forces while serving the wider Ghanaian public.Reflecting on the challenges encountered over the past year, the COAS praised the collective strength, teamwork, and dedication demonstrated across all departments, from consulting rooms to essential support services. He described the hospital as a testament to personal sacrifice and institutional excellence, urging staff to reflect on past hurdles with optimism and renewed determination for the year ahead.He emphasized that WASSA is more than a social gathering; it is a meaningful recognition of the tireless efforts of military medical personnel who work daily to safeguard the lives of Ghana’s defenders and citizens. He further encouraged staff to celebrate the festive season in unity and friendship, extending wishes for good health, success, prosperity, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year filled with goodwill and kindness.As part of the celebration, the COAS presented citations and sealed envelopes to selected staff in recognition of their outstanding dedication and hard work. The event was enlivened by performances from the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band, the Elikem Cultural Borborbor Group, and Samari Sounds, adding colour and vibrancy to the occasion.
