UNMISS GHANBATT 13 Embarks on Religious Outreach

Story by L/Cpl Quarcoo Divina

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 13 Civil-Military Team (CIMIC) embarked on a religious outreach and donation for locals at St Daniel Catholic Church in Bentiu on Saturday 25 April 2026.  The event was one of the many initiatives of GHANBATT, aimed at fostering goodwill, supporting humanitarian efforts, and providing relief and security to communities, both physically and spiritually.  The preacher at the event, Chaplain of GHANBATT 13, Reverend (Rev) Captain (Capt) Benjamin Otuo Acheampong, in his remarks applauded the cooperative spirit shown by the locals and their efforts to make the outreach a success.  He empowered the church to be a place of love and harmony and a source of shelter for the displaced. He spoke, dwelling on 2 Corinthians 5:18–19, which talks about the reconciliation between God and humanity.  Rev Capt Acheampong entreated all to take into account the Death, the Barrier, and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which symbolise the Easter period that reconciled the world to God himself through Christ.  He concluded by encouraging the church to hold fast to the faith they have in Christ, bearing in mind that God is not counting people’s sins against them but rather offering forgiveness.  The team, led by the CIMIC Officer Capt Ramat Korlevi, made donations of some items to the church after a successful outreach.Photograph by ABI Nartey Derrick Tettey
