The Ghana Army School of Ammunition and Explosives (GASAE) commissioned a new Student Trainee Dormitory at Michel Camp on Thursday 30 April 2026, marking a significant milestone in improving training infrastructure and operational readiness.

The facility is expected to improve accommodation and welfare for trainees receiving specialised instruction in ammunition management and explosive ordnance disposal.

Delivering the keynote address, the Guest of Honour, Brigadier General Jude Bari Mwinyel, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Logistics) at Army Headquarters, underscored the strategic importance of infrastructure for military training.

He said the new dormitory will significantly enhance trainee welfare and concentration, thereby improving overall training outcomes. He further charged personnel with maintaining the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability and relevance for future generations.

The Acting Commander of GASAE, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Tetteh-Kumah, described the project as a critical addition to the School’s training capacity, noting that a conducive learning environment is essential to developing the precision, discipline, and professionalism required to handle ammunition and explosives.

He emphasised that the dormitory, with a capacity for 36 trainees, will support the delivery of key training programmes, including counter-improvised explosive device operations, search procedures, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear training.

The British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Dr Christian Rogg, commended the longstanding partnership between the United Kingdom and Ghana, highlighting the British Peace Support Team Africa’s contribution to strengthening training and operational capabilities at GASAE.

He noted that the facility reflects a shared commitment to building sustainable institutions and enhancing professional standards, and reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s continued support for capacity-building initiatives within the Ghana Armed Forces.
