In a significant development highlighting the regional security collaboration and cooperation among militaries across the continent, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Bismarck Kwasi Onwona participated in the Biennial African Aerospace and Defence (AAD) Exhibition in the city of Pretoria, South Africa from 18 - 21 September 2024. The AAD exhibition showcased cutting edge military and defence technology and had a host of global exhibitors showing the latest advancements and innovations in defence, aerospace and cyber warfare among others. During the exhibition, the COAS paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the South African Army, Lt Gen Lawrence K Mbatha, who was in Ghana last month to participate in the International Defence Exhibition & Conference held in Accra. The Chiefs spoke of the need for enhanced collaboration in areas such as military courses, exercises, intelligence sharing, defence equipment procurement and all others as stipulated in the MOU signed during the Joint Defence Committee Meetings held in Accra in July this year. The AAD exhibition also afforded the COAS the opportunity to interact with executives of the Paramount Group who gave presentations on the state of the Northern Border FOBs project, plans for system integrations to make it functional and an overview of Paramount Group Land Platforms. Accompanying the COAS on the trip were Brig Gen B Gah - Comd 15 Armd Bde, Cdre S Walker, Ghana's DA to South Africa and Lt Col P Hoffman - Comd 155 Armd Regt. Also in attendance at the exhibition was a Navy Delegation led by the FOC Western Naval Command, Cdre EA Kwafo.
