DCSO Operations and Training Interacts with Troops Preparing for Peacekeeping Missions

The Deputy Chief Staff Officer (DCSO) in charge of Operations and Training at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General William Archibald Kwabiah, interacted with troops undergoing pre-deployment training at the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS), Bundase, on Tuesday 10 March 2026.

The interaction involved personnel preparing for deployment with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) GHANBATT 5, the ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG) GHANCOY 10, and the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB) GHANCOY 5.

Brig Gen Kwabiah conveyed greetings from the Chief of the Army Staff and the Military High Command and commended the troops for their high morale during training. He underscored that the visit formed part of the Army leadership’s routine engagements with personnel at Bundase, ahead of the Chief of the Army Staff’s interaction with them before the completion of their pre-deployment training.

Touching on peacekeeping operations, Brig Gen Kwabiah noted that opportunities for international deployments were gradually decreasing. He therefore urged the troops to take their preparation seriously and remain disciplined and operationally ready at all times.

He further emphasised that any injuries sustained during operations or training must be properly reported so that investigations can be carried out for accurate documentation and, where necessary, compensation.

Brig Gen Kwabiah cautioned troops on the responsible use of social media and urged them to demonstrate professionalism by refraining from sharing sensitive operational information online.

He concluded by encouraging personnel to remain disciplined, financially prudent, and content with what they have, reminding them that professionalism, honesty, and responsibility are essential qualities for successful peacekeeping operations
