Deputy Commanding General of SETAF-AF Visits Army Headquarters

The Deputy Commanding General of the Southern European Task Force-Africa (SETAF-AF), Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Daniel Cederman has paid a working visit to the Army Headquarters on Thursday, 13 March 2025. The visit was part of activities earmarked for the final planning event of the upcoming African Land Forces Summit 2025(ALFS 25).

 

On arrival at the Army Headquarters, Brig Gen Cederman inspected a special quarter guard held in his honour and later had a brief meeting with the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, to discuss matters of mutual interest.

 

The visit was climaxed by the signing of the Summit Support Agreement for ALFS 25, by Lt Gen Onwona and Brig Gen Cederman, which was witnessed by members of the ALFS 25 Planning Committee from both Ghana Army and SETAF-AF at the Army Headquarters’ Hall of Generals. The signing of the Summit Support Agreement marked the conclusion of the planning phase by the Ghana Army and SETAF-AF committees.

 

The COAS in his remarks, expressed enthusiasm about the agreement, emphasizing the Ghana Army’s readiness for a seamless and successful summit. He commended both teams for their cooperation and highlighted the summit’s potential to foster idea-sharing, learning, and strengthened friendships among participating nations.

He also noted its role in deepening collaboration between Ghana and the US Armed Forces.

 

On his part, Brig Gen Cederman acknowledged Ghana’s hospitality and praised the professionalism and coordination of the Ghana Army team. He emphasized that the summit would provide a forum for addressing security challenges through transparent discussions and expressed optimism about continued collaboration to ensure a successful event.

 

The African Land Forces Summit 2025 will be held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra from 7 to 10 April, 2025.The Summit which will be hosted by the Ghana Army in partnership with SETAF-AF aims to bring together Land Forces Commanders of various countries mainly from the African Continent to bolster international cooperation in military and security affairs.
