The ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB) Ghana Company (GHANCOY) 4 under the command of Lt Col Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah has commissioned a newly constructed vehicle shed and a Mess for soldiers on Sunday 5 October 2025.
According to the Combat Team Commander, the newly constructed Mess was to provide soldiers with a befitting place for dining and mess life to improve living conditions of the troops. He emphasised that, the vehicle shed was equally crucial as it would protect the Combat Team's vehicles from the adverse weather conditions and keep them in good conditions at all times to facilitate the execution of the ESSMGB mandate.
The Force Commander, Brig Gen Edward Odinya Ojabo, speaking at the ceremony, acknowledged the remarkable speed with which the magnificent mess structure was constructed, he recalled how the site of the mess looked like when he first visited GHANCOY Camp on 25 Feb 25.
He stated that, the mess would enhance the living condition and overall welfare of troops. He concluded by urging all contingents of ESSMGB to collaborate well in order to maintain peace and stability in Guinea Bissau as the country’s general elections approach.
The Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission (RRPC) in Guinea Bissau, Ambassador Ngozi Ukaeje, was the Guest of honour for the ceremony. In her remarks, she stated that, the newly constructed mess and vehicle shed will forever remain a legacy of the GHANCOY specifically and ECOWAS Mission in Guinea Bissau in general.
She commended the Combat Team Commander, Lt Col Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah, for his selfless leadership, vision and commitment to the welfare of his troops. She stated that, discipline in the military is inculcated and enforced in the mess and thus expressed great appreciation for the Commander’s initiative.
