Ghana Army Ends Operational Intelligence Course 2-2024

The Chief Staff Officer at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Barimah Brako Owusu has officially closed the second Operational Intelligence Course for the year 2024 at the 5 Battalion of Infantry lecture hall in Burma Camp on Friday, 20 September, 2024.

The 4-week course, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of personnel in conducting tactical intelligence operations, was hosted by the Ghana Army with the support of the Southern European Task Force Africa (SETAF-AF) through the Office of Security Cooperation (OSC) of the United States Embassy, Accra. The course comprised 21 participants selected from the three services of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Closing the course, Brig Gen BB Owusu acknowledged the American partners for their continued support and commitment to helping build intelligence capacity of troops as well as making it possible for GAF to advance its expertise to prepare for the challenges that lay ahead. He also expressed his appreciation to the intelligence section of the Army Headquarters for organizing the course.

Brig Gen Owusu congratulated the participants for successfully completing the rigorous course which had made them acquire the needed skills to enhance their ability to support operational planning, protect the forces and contribute to both domestic and regional security efforts. He emphasized the significance of intelligence in modern military operations, indicating that their roles as trained operators would be crucial in safeguarding the interest of Ghana and ensuring national security.

Major Christopher Sandoval on behalf of SETAF-AF, OSC and the Defence Attaché at the United States Embassy, Accra extended his appreciation for the hospitality and security cooperation between both countries. He was of the hope that they had trained the finest intelligence professionals, ready to serve with distinction and looked forward to a continuous cooperation as they build intelligence capacity together.
