GOC Central Command Christens 20 Unit Single Bedroom Accommodation after Major General Aphour

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command, Brigadier General Michael Opoku, has officially named a 20-unit single-bedroom accommodation after Major General Joseph Aduko Aphour at Idris Barracks Kumasi, on Tuesday 17 September, 2024. The building was named "JA Aphour Block" in recognition of the significant contributions made by Maj Gen Aphour during his time as GOC Central Command.  Notable achievements under his leadership included the construction of a two-bedroom accommodation at the Officers’ transit quarters, a dwarf wall for headquarters beautification, a pure water factory and a fence wall around parts of the camp and the MT yard. Other achievements were the renovation of a vehicle shed, and the installation of four boreholes to supply water to the camp and offices.  He also renovated a four-unit burnt accommodation for soldiers at Uaddara Barracks, built the Army Lodge in Danyame in Kumasi, and initiated the cultivation of a coconut farm, all aimed at boosting morale and fostering unity among troops. In his remarks, Maj Gen Aphour emphasized the importance of commanders prioritizing the welfare of their soldiers by providing essential amenities.  He therefore thanked his team for their dedication, which enabled him to carry out these projects, and expressed his gratitude to the Military High Command and Brig Gen Michael Opoku for the honour bestowed upon him.
