The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has officially opened Exercise “KULLUM SHIRRI 2025” on Thursday, 25 September, 2025 at Michel Camp, Tema.
The two-day inter-unit march and shoot competition brought together troops from One Infantry Battalion (1Bn), Two Infantry Battalion (2Bn), Five Infantry Battalion (5Bn), and Southern Command Headquarters Camp.
The annual exercise aims to test and enhance individual physical endurance, team spirit, navigational skills, marksmanship, and overall operational readiness of troops under the Southern Command.
It also provides a platform for units to demonstrate their ability to plan, execute, and control platoon-level operations in a realistic field environment.
Addressing participants and invited guests at the opening ceremony, Brig Gen Paintsil emphasized the importance of the exercise in sharpening the combat readiness of the Formation. He commended the participating teams for their commitment and urged them to put in their best effort, compete fairly, and translate their training into practical results.
“This exercise is designed not only to test your endurance and tactical skills but also to build unit pride, esprit de corps, and cooperation among Southern Command units,” Brig Gen Paintsil stated.
He encouraged the umpires and scorers to remain professional, fair, and firm throughout the competition and urged all troops to uphold the highest standards of discipline.
The competition, which spans from Michel Camp through the Tema Harbour area and ends at the Teshie Gallery Range, will see participating units undergo a series of physically and mentally demanding tasks, including long-range patrols, obstacle crossing, map reading, navigation, and firing competitions.
Selected high-performing participants will have the opportunity to represent the Southern Command in the upcoming Exercise “TIGER’S PATH 2025.”
