Headquarters Southern Command Holds End-Of-Year Religious Parade

Headquarters Southern Command, under the leadership of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has held its annual End-of-Year Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Religious Parade at Kpeshie Ridge, Teshie, on Sunday, 28 December 2025.The event brought together Senior Officers, Commanding Officers of units under command, Officers, Soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, and their families in a spirit of unity and thanksgiving. The parade served as an opportunity to express gratitude to God for a successful year and to commit the Command and its future activities into His hands while seeking divine guidance and favour for the years ahead. The ceremony was officiated by the Command Chaplain, Reverend Lieutenant Colonel Francis Obodai Lokko, and the Imam of the Air Force Base, Accra, Flight Lieutenant Moucharoudine-Siddique Maiga. It was held under the theme, “Preserved by God to Be Positioned for the Future.”The theme reflected the Command’s appreciation for God’s sustaining grace over its personnel, operations, and installations despite the challenges encountered throughout the year. It also underscored the importance of spiritual preparedness, discipline, and faith as the Command positions itself to meet future responsibilities and evolving security demands. In their respective sermons, the clergy encouraged personnel to remain steadfast in faith, uphold righteousness, and demonstrate selflessness and dedication in the discharge of their duties, noting that these values are essential for both professional excellence and spiritual growth.Addressing the gathering, Brigadier General Paintsil stated that the religious parade aligns with the personnel management component of his Command philosophy, which recognises the three essential needs of individuals—physical, intellectual, and spiritual or emotional. The GOC urged commanders at all levels to consciously integrate the spiritual and emotional well-being of troops into routine unit activities through Padre Hours and other religious programmes, emphasizing that such initiatives contribute significantly to morale and operational effectiveness within the Ghana Armed Forces. He further commended personnel under command for their loyalty, discipline, professionalism, and efficiency in executing the Command’s mandate despite manpower and logistical challenges. He encouraged them to sustain their hard work and dedication in the years ahead. The programme culminated in special intercessory prayers led by the Command Chaplain for Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, Southern Command, and the welfare of its personnel and their families.
