JWS Closes BNTC 1-24

The Jungle Warfare School (JWS) officially closed the Southern Command Basic Non Tactical Course (BNTC) 1-24 organized for 50 Non Commissioned Officer’s (NCOs) from the Ghana Army on Friday 13 September 2024 at Akim Achiase in the Eastern Region.

The 5-week jungle phase of BNTC 1-24, culminated the 12- week course package and was aimed to equip the personnel with application of jungle tactics, develop leadership skills at lower levels, and provide an opportunity to plan and execute exercises and operations at various levels of Command commensurate with their ranks and appointments.

On behalf of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yeboah Asare, the Command Operations Officer (COO) at the Headquarters Southern Command, Colonel Emmanuel Appiah indicated that the NCO's role is very crucial and they are the backbone of every Armed forces. He therefore expressed his belief that the course had trained them to make quick decisions under pressure, think tactically and ensure that every action taken aligns with the mission at hand.

He admonished them to lead by example by inspiring others through their actions, building a cohesive and focused team to solve challenging circumstances. Additionally, he urged the students to be worthy ambassadors of the course and remember that the knowledge and skills learned in JWS were not just for personal benefits but for the safety and success of those under their command.

Col Appiah congratulated Pte Awengula Ibn- Akurugu for emerging the overall best student of the course. He also congratulated all students for their achievement and commended the Instructors for their selfless dedication, professionalism, and commitment to making the course a success.
