UNIFIL GHANBATT 92 Provides Medical Care in Ayta Ash Shaab, Lebanon

The Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 92), serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), conducted a major medical outreach programme for residents of Ayta Ash Shaab on Thursday 5 February 2026. The initiative was part of the Battalion’s commitment to supporting the well-being of host communities and fostering stronger bonds between peacekeepers and the people they serve.Medical teams from the GHANBATT established fully equipped screening stations that provided general consultations, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services, ophthalmology assessments, and dental care. Residents underwent thorough examinations, after which all essential medications for the treatment and management of identified conditions were dispensed gratis, ensuring holistic, high-quality, and accessible healthcare for every patient.GHANBATT’s Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Officer, Captain Erica Frimpong Tenkorang, highlighted that the outreach was designed to help close existing gaps in healthcare access in Ayta Ash Shaab. She noted that the Battalion remains committed to delivering timely, community-centred support that enhances the daily lives of the population.Her remarks were echoed by the Director of the Social Development Centre, Dr Siham Droubi, who praised the initiative. She emphasised that the medical support provided by GHANBATT 92 was timely and essential, particularly given the community’s limited access to consistent healthcare.The successful outreach demonstrates GHANBATT’s unwavering commitment to UNIFIL’s mandate and to promoting goodwill, cooperation, and humanitarian assistance across its area of operational responsibility.
