The 1 Infantry Battalion (1Bn) organised a comprehensive "Battalion Headquarters on the Field" demonstration for students of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Junior Staff Course 85 (JSC 85), led by Colonel Bright Senanu Kusime, on Tuesday 17 February 2026 at Michel Camp.
The Commanding Officer 1Bn, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Adams, described the Battalion Headquarters as the operational nerve centre for countering security threats. He emphasised that the Exercise codename “RED DRAGON” enhances the headquarters' readiness to detect, respond to, and neutralise attacks in dynamic environments.
The demonstration provided JSC 85 students with practical exposure to the organisation, roles, and field deployments of an infantry battalion.
Key activities included detailed briefings on operational structures and a static display of infantry weaponry, showcasing equipment applications.
Participants toured deployment sites, observing simulated combat scenarios that replicate modern battlefield challenges and unpredictability. The visits provided students with insights into battalion-level command and control under field conditions.
