Central Command Welcomes New GOC in Ceremonial Handover

The Central Command Headquarters of the Ghana Army on Friday 23 May 2025 witnessed a significant transition of leadership as Brigadier General Michael Kwadwo Opoku formally handed over command to Brigadier General Albert Sison Ogaja during a well-attended ceremony held at the Agyemang-Prempeh Square, Idris Barracks, Kumasi.The formal handover was marked by the signing of official documents and the exchange of baton symbolizing the peaceful and formal transition of command.In his farewell address, the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command, Brigadier General Opoku urged officers and men of the Command to uphold professionalism and maintain unwavering loyalty to the state. He emphasized the importance of discipline, calling on personnel to resist unlawful orders in order to preserve the integrity of the service.Brig Gen Opoku also expressed his commitment to supporting his successor and appealed to stakeholders to assist the Incoming GOC to continue the ongoing projects in the Unit, particularly the accommodation facilities under construction for soldiers of the Command.The event also featured a traditional pulling-out parade in honour of the outgoing GOC, Brig Gen Michael Kwadwo Opoku and was graced by a distinguished gathering including senior military officers, members of the Regional Security Council, traditional leaders, staff officers, soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, family members, and friends of the Command.
