Chief of the Army Staff Visits 16 Artillery Brigade

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu paid his maiden official visit to the 16 Artillery Brigade at Ho, Volta Region from Wednesday, 14 to Thursday 15 May 2025.

On arrival at the Brigade Headquarters, Maj Gen Gbetanu was welcomed with a colourful guard of honour and a cultural display. He was briefed on the operational, administrative and logistical matters, as well as challenges of the Brigade by the Commander, Brigadier General Selorm Kwasi Amengor and the various Commanding Officers under the Brigade.

The COAS later held an all ranks durbar with troops of the various Units under the Brigade. He assured them of reviving the traditional training with discipline in the Army. He also revealed that retooling the Army with standard infrastructure for the smooth running of the Ghana Army and Ghana Armed Forces at large is his number one priority.

Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu further admonished troops to stop illegal operations which tarnish the image of the Armed Forces, stressing that anyone found culpable would face the full rigours of the law. He concluded by advising troops to maintain high level of professionalism and work together as a team for the progress of the Ghana Army and the Ghana Armed Forces at large.

The Gender Advisor to the Chief of the Army Staff, Colonel Rahinatu Sledge Alando also enlightened troops on the Mahama Care foundation and advised troops to come on board when the need arises.

The COAS and his entourage concluded the visit by paying a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon James Gunu.
