COAS Commissions Projects at Jungle Warfare School

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, has on Wednesday, 27 November 2024 commissioned some projects at the Jungle Warfare School (JWS) in Akim Achiase, Eastern Region. The projects included a laboratory and female ward at the school’s Medical Aid Post, funded by the School. These new projects were built to take care of the laboratory needs of all who visit the facility and address privacy concerns of female students, personnel and community members seeking healthcare at the school's Medical Aid Post.Other projects commissioned by COAS were a new Armoury with a Quarter Master Office and Weapon Cleaning site, funded by the Minister for Communication and Digitalization, Honourable Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and a modern Officers Mess kitchen funded by Ankobrah West Rural Bank.During the commissioning ceremony, COAS highlighted the importance of modern infrastructure in supporting specialized military training at JWS. He expressed gratitude to Hon Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Ankobrah West Rural Bank for supporting the infrastructure needs of the School and urged all ranks to take care of the new facilities for the benefit of the school.Major General Onwona also seized the opportunity to emphasize the need for troops to remain neutral and professional during the upcoming general elections to maintain peace. The Commanding Officer (CO), Lt Col Jacob Cudjoe stated that the projects demonstrate a commitment to excellence and personnel development, enhancing the effectiveness of the Jungle Warfare training program. He added that the new facilities would provide a more conducive environment for troops to work in.He also announced that two new obstacles have been added to the existing ones to enhance training in the School. Present at the ceremony were the Commander Army Training Command, Brig Gen Stephen Woseadzikpo Kweku Parbey, Queenmother of Achiase, Nana Darkoa II, Members of the District Security Council and Divisional Heads of Security Agencies, the Board Chairman of Ankobra West Rural Bank, Dr Frank Boateng and Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters.
