General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brig Gen Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has undertaken a familiarisation tour of Headquarters Southern Command (Camp) at Kpeshie Ridge on Tuesday, 24 June 2025.
The visit formed part of the GOC's scheduled operational and familiarisation visits to all Units and Forward Operating Bases (FOB) in Southern Command Areas of Operational Responsibility (AOR).
The tour commenced with the inspection of a smartly turned-out quarter guard by personnel of the Unit, after which the GOC was ushered to the conference room for a thorough brief on the administrative, operational and logistics state of the Camp.
The Commanding Officer (CO) Headquarters Southern Command Camp, Lt Col William Opoku during the brief, outlined the various tasks and deployments of the Unit over the period and also enumerated some challenges faced by the Camp.
The GOC, Brig Gen IN Paintsil was taken on a tour of the facilities in the camp, where deliberations were made among the Staff Officers to find solutions to some of the shortcomings identified.
At a durbar with all ranks of the Unit, Brig Gen Paintsil entreated Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff to desist from acts that seek to put the hard-earned reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) into disrepute. He urged them to remain disciplined and work diligently to uplift GAF always.
He further encouraged troops to take self-development seriously, in terms of undertaking all mandatory military courses, as well as making use of civil educational opportunities to upgrade their knowledge through the technological sphere available now.
