COAS Cuts Sod for Construction of Multipurpose Mess at Army Peace Operations Training School

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, has cut sod for the construction of a 1,000-seat Multipurpose Mess at the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) in Bundase, pledging a seed money of one hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵100,000) to aid in its completion. The sod cutting was held during the visit of the COAS to personnel of UNIFIL GHANBATT 91, on completion of their pre-deployment concentration and training at the Battle Training Camp, Bundase on Thursday, 8 August 2024.Also, as part of the visit, the COAS commissioned a newly renovated ablution unit, a project executed by GHANBATT 91, and inspected a 100-bed accommodation facility, also renovated by the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) to support trainees at the camp.The COAS also witnessed some simulation exercises during which troops demonstrated their preparedness to deal with any situation likely to be encountered when deployed in the mission area.At a durbar with troops, Maj Gen Onwona shared his vision for the Ghana Army and emphasised ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency. He also stressed the need for enhanced collaboration with other security services as well as the media. Maj Gen Onwona applauded troops for their display of commitment and motivation and charged them to always maintain a high level of readiness and professionalism.

The COAS was accompanied by some Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters.
