COAS Embarks on Visit to Army Training Command and Army Combat Training School

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has begun his familiarisation tour following his recent appointment, making his maiden visit to the Headquarters Army Training Command (ATRAC) and Army Combat Training School (ACTS) on Tuesday, 6 May 2025.

 

During the visit, the COAS received briefings from the outgoing Commander ATRAC, Brigadier General Stephen Woseadzipko Kwaku Parbey, and Commander ACTS, Colonel Robert Narh, on the current state of the Command and School. The briefings covered training activities, administration, logistics, and the overall outlook of army training formats, as well as ongoing projects, challenges and future plans. Major General Gbetanu and his entourage also had a conducted tour to inspect some facilities and ongoing projects.

 

Also as part of the visit, the COAS interacted with personnel of ATRAC and ACTS, expressing appreciation for the warm reception and emphasizing the critical role of training in shaping the operations and values of the Armed Forces. He commended all personnel for their dedication and highlighted the need to adapt training methodologies to address contemporary challenges such as hybrid threats, terrorism, and rapid technological advancements. He urged that training philosophies remain robust and aligned with future operational demands.

 

Major General Gbetanu also assured personnel of the Military High Command’s support and collaboration to address challenges and enhance training methods. He reiterated the Army’s vision of building a force grounded in core military values and equipped with advanced technology, encouraging all to serve with pride and contribute to the professional development of their colleagues.

 

In response, Brigadier General Parbey thanked the COAS for his visit and congratulated him on his appointment. He reaffirmed the commitment of ATRAC and ACTS to raising training standards in the Ghana Army and enhancing combat efficiency and career development of all personnel.
