The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, undertook his maiden official visit to the 14 Engineer Brigade at Teshie on Thursday, 8 May 2025, as part of his familiarisation tour.
During the visit, Commander of the 14 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General Richard Agbeko Kojo Kinney, briefed the COAS on the brigade’s current status, challenges, and recommendations for enhancing future operations. The 14 Engineer Brigade, inaugurated in December 2024, comprises the 48, 50, 51, and 52 Engineer Regiments, with its headquarters in Kintampo.
Addressing personnel of the Brigade at the Teshie Camp Methodist Presbyterian Church auditorium, Maj Gen Gbetanu emphasized his vision to return the Army to its core fundamentals and values, stressing that a strong foundation would improve administration, operations, and logistics. He encouraged senior personnel to mentor younger soldiers and highlighted the strategic importance of the Engineer Brigade to both the Ghana Army and the nation.
He reiterated his commitment to building a well-grounded Army, supported by modern technology and motivated by core military values, to project power and ensure national security. The COAS commended the Brigade’s dedication to duty and assured them of continued support from Army Headquarters.
Brig Gen Kinney, on behalf of the Brigade, thanked the COAS and his entourage for the visit and pledged continued diligence in fulfilling their mandate. As a gesture of appreciation, he presented a commemorative plaque to Maj Gen Gbetanu.
