COAS Presides over Change of Command at Army Special Operations Brigade

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, presided over the handing and taking over ceremony for the Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB) at the forecourt of the Brigade Headquarters in Burma Camp, on Wednesday, 7 May 2024. The event marked the official transfer of command from Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil to Brigadier General Richard Kainyi Mensah.

 

In his farewell address, Brig Gen Paintsil reflected on the importance of change, describing it as both a challenge and an opportunity for growth. He emphasized the Army's mission to build a force that redefines operational excellence, requiring sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering dedication to national security.

 

Brig Gen Paintsil expressed gratitude to God, the military high command, his team, and foreign partners for their support throughout his tenure. He praised the commitment and teamwork of the ASOB, urging members to uphold the ethics and creed of the Special Forces.

 

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handing over of the staff of authority to Brig Gen Mensah, followed by a pulling out ceremony for Brig Gen Paintsil, honouring his service and leadership.
