A delegation from the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security, led by Global Leader Dr Shelly Whitman, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, at Army Headquarters on Tuesday, 28 April 2025.
The visit aimed to express gratitude for the ongoing collaboration between the Ghana Army and the Dallaire Institute, and to congratulate Major General Gbetanu on his recent promotion.
Dr Whitman commended the Ghana Army for their support in implementing the Institute’s training programs at the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) in Bundase. In his remarks, the COAS affirmed his commitment to the partnership, highlighting the importance of training peacekeepers on how to effectively interact with children in conflict zones. He emphasized that such training is crucial for preparing troops for real-world scenarios they may encounter during peacekeeping missions. The COAS also expressed interest in integrating doctrines on children’s peace and security into the Army’s training curriculum for career development.
