ECOMIG GHANCOY 9 Donates Medical Supplies to Essau General Hospital

In a significant boost to healthcare delivery in the North Bank Region, the ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG), through Ghana Company 9 (GHANCOY 9), has donated a wide range of essential medical items to Essau General Hospital on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.

The donation was presented by the Company Commander of GHANCOY 9, Lt Col RY Agbemafle, as part of the contingent’s ongoing civil–military cooperation efforts aimed at supporting communities within its area of operations. The items were officially received on behalf of the hospital by the Administrator, Mr. Almami Fofana.

In his remarks, Lt Col Agbemafle reaffirmed ECOMIG’s commitment not only to maintaining peace and stability but also to supporting the wellbeing of host communities. He emphasized that the donation reflects the mission’s partnership with local institutions.

The donated items included intravenous (IV) Ciprofloxacin, IV Paracetamol, IV Artesunate for malaria treatment, IV Ringer’s Lactate, IV Dextrose 5%, and IV Omeprazole. Also included were IV cannulas, lidocaine (plain and with adrenaline), water for injection, methylated spirit, hospital mattresses among others.

Receiving the items, the administrator of the hospital Mr. Almami Fofana thanked ECOMIG GHANCOY 9 for the gesture, noting that the supplies would go a long way in improving patient care and addressing some of the logistical challenges faced by the facility. He described the donation as timely and impactful, particularly in supporting emergency care and routine medical services.

The initiative further strengthens the cordial relationship between ECOMIG GHANCOY 9 and the people of Essau, underscoring the mission’s role in promoting both security and humanitarian support across The Gambia.
