ECOMIG GHANCOY 9 Holds Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

The ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG) GHANCOY 9, has held a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols as part of activities to mark the Christmas season on Saturday 20 December 2025 at the Praise Chapel in the Barra Camp.The solemn service under the theme “Who is Jesus Christ” brought together officers, men and women of the company, in an atmosphere of worship, reflection and thanksgiving. The programme featured the traditional nine biblical lessons, interspersed with carol singing, prayers and musical renditions that reflected the true meaning of Christmas.Speaking at the service, the Company Commander, Lt Col Ronne Yaw Agbemafle, emphasized the importance of the festival in strengthening faith, unity, discipline, teamwork and moral values among troops. He noted that the Christmas season provides an opportunity for personnel to reflect on peace, love and sacrifice, which align with the core values of peacekeeping.He commended troops for their professionalism, discipline and commitment to duty especially at the Barra Ferry Terminal, during patrols as well as Key Leadership engagements in the North Bank Region.The service also served as a moment of remembrance for personnel serving away from their families, while reinforcing comradeship and spiritual resilience within the contingent.The event concluded with prayers for peace in The Gambia, Ghana, the ECOWAS sub-region and the safety of all ECOMIG personnel.
