Making EXERCISE AFRICAN LION 2025 tangibly visible to communities, a 3 day medical outreach has been held for the people of Kumbungu in the Northern Region, to boost the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) among the Ghana Armed Force (GAF), the United State Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and the Kumbungu community.
The outreach which was held from Thursday 8 May to Saturday 10 May 2025 at the Kumbungu District Assembly saw the medical team providing free medical services comprising health screening, general consultation, laboratory check-up, diagnosis and administering of free medication to over one thousand residents.
Speaking to the Press, the Head of Public Health of the 6 MRS, Major Randy Nii Ofori Tawiah said that, the medical outreach was a CIMIC initiative by the GAF and SETAF-AF, as part of the broader objectives of EXERCISE AFRICAN LION 2025.
He emphasized the importance of good health care to the people of Kumbungu especially during the farming season and encouraged them to pay serious attention to their health and visit the nearest medical center for frequent health checkup. He expressed his appreciation to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for providing the medical team with space for the setup.
The DCE, Mr Morro Yakubu Kakpagu expressed his gratitude to the GAF and SETAF-AF particularly the medical team for the initiative and for the continued commitment and support to the community. He reiterated that, this kind gesture would go a long way to foster a relationship among GAF, the SETAF-AF and the Kumbungu community.
The District Director for Heath Service Mr Brimah Farouk appealed to the people to take advantage of the medical outreach and get themselves screened and treated. As part of the medical outreach, some members of the team led by Capt Peter Darko Afari from the US Army Civil Affairs visited the Kumbungu Naa, Kumbungu Senior High School and Sunniya E/A Primary School where they donated items which included assorted medicines, tooth pastes, tooth brushes and sanitary pads to the community and the students.
