The burial and memorial service for former Chief of the Army Staff, Major General (Maj Gen) Joseph Narh Adinkrah, was held on Friday 13 February 2026 at the Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church, Burma Camp, followed by interment at the Military Cemetery.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, senior military officers (both serving and retired), the Rwandan High Commissioner, traditional leaders, members of the Accra Academy alumni, family, friends, and sympathisers.
During the service, the Director General Religious Affairs, Apostle Dr Brigadier General BG Kumi-Woode, delivered a sermon encouraging mourners to reflect on the late Maj Gen Adinkrah’s life of faith, service, and leadership, and to emulate his enduring virtues and commitment.
At the interment, five wreaths were laid on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Army, Ghana Military Academy Intake 15, and the family.
Born on 19 April 1950 in Koforidua, Maj Gen Adinkrah was commissioned into the Ghana Army on 21 July 1973 under the late Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia’s special enlistment programme.
He completed various military courses and served in several units of the Ghana Armed Forces, rising to the position of Chief of the Army Staff. Over a distinguished four-decade career, he participated in peacekeeping missions and received numerous United Nations, national, and international honours. He retired honourably in 2013 after 40 years of dedicated service.
