GAFTAG Hands Over Dog Kennel Facility and Van to GAF

The German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) has handed over a Dog Kennel Facility and a Toyota Haice van to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Tuesday 29 April 2025 at the Air Force Base, Tamale. The Dog Kennel was established to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Military working dog programme and contribute to the broader security architecture of the nation. Receiving the facility and the vehicle on behalf of GAF, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei expressed his gratitude to the Head of Mission and the entire GAFTAG Team for their tireless efforts in making the donation a reality and for the commitment to strengthening the bilateral ties between GAF and GAFTAG. He stated that, GAFTAG over the years has been exceptional from the provision of technical assistance to the construction of critical infrastructure across the garrisons. He added that, the completion and handing over of the facility and the vehicle signified the strategic and operational partnership that would promote capacity building, sustainability and professionalism within the rank. He emphasized the importance of military working dogs in contemporary security operations, particularly in detection and tracking adding that, the facility would serve as a vital asset for training to enhance the overall force protection and base defence capability.The Head of Mission GAFTAG, Lt Col Andreas Heselschwerdt expressed his pride in the long-standing security cooperation partnership between GAFTAG and GAF. He noted that the construction of the Dog Facility would significantly contribute to military operations, fostering greater security and stability. He urged Commanders to recognize the invaluable contribution of these dogs in operations. The Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Matthias Awuah expressed his sincere gratitude to GAFTAG for their generous donation. He added that, the handing over of the facility is evidence to the strong bond and shared values of service, sacrifice, and compassion between the GAF and GAFTAG. He mentioned that, the event was not a mere ceremony but a celebration of collaboration, innovation and unwavering commitment to enhancing the capabilities of Ghana Armed Forces.
