German Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on Coas

A delegation from the German Armed Forces, led by Colonel Karsten Kramer, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday, 3 December 2025. The visit aimed to familiarize the delegation with the COAS and discuss areas of cooperation, particularly in supporting Ghana Army training facilities. Major General Gbetanu welcomed the delegation and expressed profound appreciation for the ongoing partnership, especially in the areas of equipment support and capability development across the various training institutions. During the meeting, he highlighted the need for additional assistance for the Ghana Armed Forces training schools and called for German support toward establishing the 51 Engineering Regiment. Colonel Kramer commended the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for their dedication and assured them of Germany’s readiness to continue partnering through logistical support and the provision of essential equipment for the training schools. Brigadier General William Archibold Kwabiah, Deputy Chief Staff Officer for Operations and Training, reaffirmed the longstanding mutual relationship between the GAF and Germany, expressing confidence that the collaboration would continue to grow. As a gesture of appreciation, the COAS presented Colonel Kramer with a plaque to commemorate the visit.
