The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brig Gen Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has paid his maiden visit to 5 Infantry Battalion (5BN) on Tuesday, 03 June 2025 after taking over on 8 May, 2025.
The visit aimed to provide Brig Gen Paintsil with the opportunity to familiarise himself with 5BN, meet and interact with troops, and gain first-hand information on the various tasks and activities undertaken by the Unit to help achieve it’s mandate. It was also for the GOC to ascertain the various gains and challenges of the ‘Pink 5’ fraternity, identify operational, administrative and logistical shortfalls of the Unit and find ways to mitigate them at the Command level, to ensure success for the Army.
