The new India Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Manoj Singh, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, at the Army Headquarters on Thursday 29 January 2026.
Col Singh's visit aimed to introduce himself to the COAS and strengthen bilateral ties between the India Army and Ghana Army. He praised the latter’s professionalism and expressed interest in introducing advanced drone technologies and collaborative training programmes to build capacity and help address security challenges in the Northern Region.
Welcoming Col Singh, Maj Gen Gbetanu acknowledged Ghana-India cooperation in UN peacekeeping missions. He assured support for benchmarking and collaborations, highlighting the importance of drone technology in modern warfare.
To symbolise the good rapport between the two Armies, the COAS presented Col Singh with a customized Ghana Army plaque and kente stole, while Col Singh presented a plaque, marble, books, and souvenir.
