The Commander of 15 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, paid a formal maiden visit to the newly established 156 Cavalry Regiment on Tuesday 17 February 2026.
The visit followed the appointment of the Regiment’s first Commanding Officer. It formed part of the Brigade Headquarters’ efforts to assess the unit’s initial progress, evaluate its operational and administrative readiness, and identify challenges associated with its establishment.
On arrival, the Brigade Commander was received by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Bannerman, and honoured with a Guard of Honour comprising 48 dismounted soldiers and 9 mounted troops on horseback.
The horses formed an integral part of the guard of honour, making it the first of its kind within the Ghana Armed Forces. After a comprehensive briefing by the Commanding Officer, the visiting General toured selected facilities within the unit, gaining firsthand insight into the Regiment’s development and the efforts of personnel to build a sound operational foundation.
During an interaction with all ranks, the Brigade Commander commended unit personnel for the progress achieved in a short period, despite the challenges of a newly established unit.
