The Northern Command (N/COMD), in furtherance of its mandate to safeguard Ghana’s territorial integrity, conducted a long‑range patrol and show of force along the Ghana–Burkina Faso border on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December 2025. The operation was executed in line with the Command’s operational concept.
The patrol, undertaken within the Areas of Operational Responsibility of the 11 and 12 Mechanised Battalions, aimed at identifying possible armed elements along the border. This forms part of the Command’s counter‑terrorism and anti‑terrorism efforts to deter extremist groups from establishing a presence along the northern frontier.
During the operation, the patrol team covered key communities including Sandema, Chuchuliga, Chiana, Kayoro and Binduri. Engagements with residents and nomadic herdsmen revealed that the visible presence of the patrol has enhanced their sense of security, particularly during market activities and routine movements.
Addressing community members, the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected infiltration, unfamiliar persons or unusual activities to the nearest Police Station through their traditional authorities for onward action.
Brigadier General Agbebo reassured the populace of the military’s commitment to their safety, emphasizing that the Ghana Armed Forces will continue to sustain robust surveillance and patrols along the borders to prevent any form of infiltration.
He further encouraged the communities to provide timely and accurate information to support ongoing efforts to protect and secure the nation’s borders.
