Northern Command Conducts Long Range Patrols along Ghana-Burkina Faso Border

The Northern Command (N/COMD) as part of efforts to protect its territorial borders has conducted a long range patrols along the Ghana Burkina Faso Border in line with the operational concept of the Command.  The patrol which was conducted at the 11 and 12 Mechanised Battalions Area of Operational Responsibility on Wednesday 3 September 2025 was to dominate the area along Ghana-Burkina Faso Border to deter terrorist infiltration, monitor civilian activities along the border, and identify possible sleeper cells and base camps of terrorists. In an interaction with some residents of Bongo and nomadic herdsmen in Soe in the Upper East Region and its environs, the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brig Gen Worlanyo Agbebo urged the locals to monitor and report any infiltration or sighting of unfamiliar persons and activities in the area to the Commander Rear 11 Mechanised Battalion through their Chief. He also assured them that, the Ghana Armed Forces will continue to maintain its robust surveillance and combat patrols along its borders to prevent any terrorist infiltration.The residence expressed their appreciation and acknowledged the presence of the patrol team, indicating their readiness to support the military by providing them with accurate information that will enable them maintain stability and security in the border region.
