The Outgoing Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, has expressed appreciation to the sponsors of the Army's development projects, particularly, his Quick Impact Projects (QIP), at a meeting held at the Army Headquarters on Thursday 20 March 2025.
Addressing the sponsors, Lt Gen Onwona explained that the Army faced challenges in providing accommodation for soldiers coming out of training each year. To address this, he initiated the QIP to reduce the accommodation deficit. He acknowledged the sponsors' support, which had enabled the project to progress at a commendable pace.
He introduced his successor, Brig Gen Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, to the sponsors, describing him as a "worthy successor."
Lt Gen Onwona further expressed profound gratitude for their willingness and continued support and entreated them to extend same support to his successor. As a token of appreciation, the Outgoing COAS presented Ghana Army customized plaques to all the sponsors.
Also as part of the meeting, the Chief Projects and Services at the Army Headquarters, Colonel Albert Takyi, presented the sponsors with an update on the main pilot project, which is a 200-bed accommodation for young soldiers at Medo Lines in Burma Camp.
The sponsors included Kabaka Construction Limited, First Bank Ghana Limited, ECOBANK Ghana Limited, Domod Roof Limited, Unique Developments Limited, Imperial Homes Limited, and CGM Ghana Limited.
Others were Reroy Cables Limited, De Simone Group of Companies, Core Construction Limited, Diamond Cement Company Limited, Nexans Kablemetal Ghana Limited, and PolyChangda Overseas Engineering Company Limited.
