The Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Barimah Brako Owusu has officially closed the Basic Intelligence Officers Course 1-2024 at Arakan Barracks on Friday, 25 October, 2024.
CSO in his address noted that over the past 5 weeks the course participants' engagement in rigorously designed programs has upgraded their intelligence capabilities, intricacies of information gathering and analysis, as well as their briefing and report writing skills. He noted that the skills acquired are not only vital for their individual growth but essential for the collective strength of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Furthermore, he elaborated that the knowledge gained serves as a foundation for future contributions to national security because they have been exposed to realities of emerging national security threats and are expected to be able to anticipate challenges and effectively respond in support of operations at the tactical level.
Additionally, he reiterated that effective Intelligence works rely on both collaboration and teamwork and urged them to be proactive in knowledge sharing and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and integrity. He further expressed his gratitude to the Army Headquarters G2 Branch for their efforts in equipping the young officers with the needed tools to excel in their roles.
The Course Senior Student, Lieutenant (GN) Raymond Gbedli-Johnson on behalf of his colleague officers also expressed his deepest gratitude to the Army Headquarters G2 branch for the opportunity and mentorship which has enriched their knowledge in intelligence. As a token of their appreciation, they donated two microphones, a slide changer and an external hard disk to improve subsequent courses.
At the end of the Course, Lt Michael Mark was adjudged the overall best student followed by Lt (GN) Raymond Gbedli-Johnson and Lt Edward Clark Sam in the second and third positions respectively.
