The Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) has held a closing ceremony for key appointment holders who participated in the Mission Leadership Training (MLT) for the ECOWAS Mission in Gambia (ECOMIG GHANCOY 9) and the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB GHANCOY 4) on Monday 5 November 2024 at the Battle Training Camp, Bundase.
The MLT which began on Monday 5 October 2024 was aimed at equipping key appointment holders of both missions with knowledge in Military Peacekeeping Intelligence (MPKI), Military Decision Making Process (MDMP), Protection of Civilians (POC), Child Protection, among others.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Mission Leadership Training, the Guest of honour, Deputy Commander of the Army Training Command (ATRAC), Col Godwill Yao De-Souza congratulated all participants of the training and advised troops embarking on both missions to fully participate in the Mission Skill Validation Training (MSVT) which was set to commence immediately after the MLT closing ceremony, in order to exhibit the skills required in the mission areas.
Col De-Souza further urged troops to maintain the professional standard of the Ghana Armed Forces in order to keep the flag of Ghana high when deployed.
Participants of the MLT were awarded certificates for participation. The event also marked the commencement of the MSVT, a mandatory training aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of troops for operational effectiveness. Present at the ceremony were Commander APOTS, Col Clement Dingane and Officer Commanding, ESSMGB, Lt Col Kwame Owusu Afriyie.
