Chinese Ambassador Hands Over State-of-the-Art Office Complex to Ghana Armed Forces

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, HE Tong Defa, alongside the Deputy Minister for Defence, Honourable (Hon) Kofi Amankwa-Manu has commissioned and handed over an ultramodern office complex to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, at the Battle Training Camp, Bundase in the Greater Accra Region.  This is part of eight other projects completed under the China Military Aid Project. Ambassador Tong Defa mentioned that this project was a testament to the strong friendship and cooperation between China and Ghana, as well as their armed forces. He also highlighted that the project would help GAF train new recruits, alleviate accommodation deficits, and enhance defense capabilities. The project, which started in May 2023, also includes facilities such as accommodation for officers and soldiers, an auditorium, a medical center, and an ablution block. These facilities are located in different areas, including Bundase, Shai Hills, Nutekpor, and Takoradi, and will serve the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Guest of Honour at the ceremony, Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu expressed gratitude for the support from the Chinese government. He also commended the contractor, China No 5 Railway Group, for completing all projects on schedule.Furthermore, the Guest of Honour took the opportunity to appeal to the Chinese Government to speed up preparations towards the commencement of infrastructural works at the National College of Defence Studies which would go a long way to ensure that the objectives of the college are achieved.The Director Engineering Services, Colonel Jonas Wiafe indicated that the office complex would serve as the headquarters of the Army Peace Operations Training School. Also present at the ceremony, were the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, and other Generals from the General Headquarters and the various Service and Formation Headquarters.
