The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, oversaw the 2025 Ghana Army Practical Promotion Examination (PROMEX) during a visit to the field assessment area at Akuse on Friday, 25 April 2025.

Codenamed ‘Ex IRON RESOLVE’, the exercise began on Monday, 21 April, involving 127 Level A candidates, aiming for promotion from Lieutenant to Captain and 82 Level B candidates, seeking promotion from Captain to Major.

Major General Gbetanu praised the candidates for their commendable tactical acumen and professionalism throughout the rigorous assessment. He emphasized that the PROMEX equips officers with enhanced knowledge and readiness to contribute effectively to national security and external operations and further commended the Candidates for their tactical proficiency.

The COAS also commended the examiners, acknowledging their dedication and invaluable contributions to the career development of the candidates.

The annual PROMEX evaluates junior officers’ leadership, tactical decision-making, and resource management at both Combat Team and Battle Group levels of command. It also serves as a critical career milestone, testing physical fitness, discipline, and strategic competence to ensure only the most qualified candidates advance.
