A delegation from the Danish Armed Forces, led by the Head of Section for Cooperation and Peace Support at the Sterilisation Formation, Miss Marloe Van der Heijden, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday 21 January 2026.
The visit aimed to familiarise the delegation with the COAS, assess the impact of Denmark’s cooperation and support for the Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB), and explore ways to enhance future assistance.
Major General Gbetanu welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for Denmark’s continued partnership with the Ghana Army. He noted that the Ghana Army would welcome further support for ASOB, particularly in the form of training equipment and opportunities to train more Ghana Armed Forces personnel within the Brigade.
Miss Van der Heijden commended the COAS for his leadership and reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Army, particularly ASOB, in strengthening training and exercises.
Present were the Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel C E Holland, the Chief Staff Officer at Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Lloyd Atror and the Commander, Army Special Operations Brigade, Brigadier General Richard Mensah.
