Ghana Army Holds Press Conference for IDEC 2024

The Ghana Army has held a press conference to herald the upcoming 2nd International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEC 2024) at the Dohazari Auditorium in Burma Camp on Thursday, 22 August, 2024.

Addressing the press, the Deputy Chief Staff Officer, Plans and Policy (DCSO P&P) at the Army Headquarters, who is also the Chairman of the central planning committee for IDEC 2024, Brigadier General Yehuza Salifu noted that, the event is slated for Wednesday 28 to Thursday 29 August 2024. He further elaborated that, IDEC 2024 holds the theme, “Enhancing Regional Mechanisms for Addressing Contemporary Security Challenges in Africa” and would be held at the Burma Hall and the Great Minds Events Centre located in Burma Camp.

Brig Gen Salifu reiterated that this year’s IDEC is organized by the Ghana Army with the partnership of Great Minds Events Management LLC and Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute. He added that it is a biennial platform for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to assemble relevant global players from the defence and security space to discuss issues of interest as well as showcase cutting-edge military technology.

He Emphasized that its overarching objectives are to strengthen international collaboration, provide a platform to discuss topical issues on defence and security, and showcase cutting-edge technological solutions in the defence and security industry.

He therefore assured that the Ghana Army is committed to maintaining a high standard of excellence and innovation in the execution of the constitutional mandate to defend Ghana against all threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity for which IDEC 2024 is a testament to their commitment to staying at the forefront of defence technology and strategy. Also, he believed that by sharing knowledge and engaging with their international partners, they can contribute to a more secure and peaceful country and continent at large.

Brig Gen Salifu also took the opportunity to invite all stakeholders including the media to join forces with them to execute this laudable event stressing that their participation and contribution would play a crucial role in the success of the event.
