L/CPL Jerry Lartey Presents WBA Africa Title to COAS

The Ghana Army Boxing Team, led by Deputy Chief Staff Officer for Operations and Training, Brigadier General William Archibold Kwabiah, has presented Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Jerry Lartey’s WBA Africa Super Lightweight title to the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) on Thursday 15 January 2026, at the Army Headquarters, Burma Camp.

L/Cpl Lartey secured the prestigious title at the 2025 World Boxing Association Africa Super Lightweight bout, marking a proud milestone for the Ghana Army’s sports programme.

The COAS, Major General (Maj Gen ) Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, congratulated L/Cpl Lartey on behalf of the Ghana Army, commending his commitment, discipline, and dedication throughout the 2025 sporting season. He praised L/Cpl Lartey as a worthy face of the Ghana Army Boxing Team, highlighting his contribution to the Army’s positive public image and sporting excellence.

Maj Gen Gbetanu urged the team to maintain their hard work and solidarity in every bout. He assured them of his continued support and encouraged them to sustain their winning momentum.
