COAS COMMISSIONS 2 ACC’N AT ATS

Ghana’s Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General (Maj Gen)Thomas Oppong-Peprah has commissioned the maiden facility of the Ghana Army Lodge concept in Kumasi, at Danyame. On Monday 4 April 2023, the COAS credited his predecessor – Maj Gen William Azure Ayamdo (Rtd) with the concept of the Army Lodges, as the latter cut the sod for the construction of the Army Lodge Kumasi. He informed the gathering that the Army Lodge Accra, the second in the series of Army Lodges to be built is 80% complete, and emphasised that the aim is to provide competitive but affordable world class accommodation and services to Officers, Soldiers and the general public, in partnership with a private investor.

The COAS lauded the Asantehene – Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II, for permitting the land use variation, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah for his usual support. He further praised the host and outgoing General Officer Commanding Central Command (GOC Cen Comd) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Joseph Aphour.

The COAS’ delegation included the outgoing Chief Staff Officer Army Headquarters and incoming GOC Cen Comd, Brig Gen C Agyemang-Prempeh, DCSO (Log),Brig Gen KKK Kumi, DCSO (Ops and Trg), Brig Gen FN Tei, Chief G3 (Ops), Col WN Nortey, Chief G4, Col JKN Amenyah, Chief G5, Col AY Owusu, A/SOII Doctrine G7, Major Patience Naa Ayorkor Badger and the Acting Sergeant Major of the Army, SWOI Dormah T. Aside the Ashanti Regional Minister were other members of the Regional Security Council as well as the Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff of Central Command.
